Job Description:

Full Time Salaried Position
Current level of Budgeted Allowance per year given for reimbursement of Health and Medical Insurance, Dental and Vision Insurance, and for related out-of-pocket medical expenses.
2 Weeks of Paid Vacation for the first 3 years of employment, then 3 weeks paid vacation years 4 -10 and finally 4 weeks after 10 years of service
Expectation to attend worship 44 Sundays a year
The Youth Director reports to – and is evaluated by – the Senior Pastor, until the Assistant Pastor of Christian Education position is filled.

This position entails discipling, equipping, and training our students in the gospel as we prepare them for their next season (college, career, church, etc.). The Youth Director is one who loves God and His Word, is passionate about gathering youth to grow in their walk with God and grow together in community with one another.
The goal of this position is to reach students for Christ and equip them to serve in God’s kingdom, through (including but not limited to the following):
• Teaching & Facilitating: teach (weekly) for youth Bible and Life and Sunday evening youth group; lead weekly middle school and high school small groups (and provide oversight for interns or volunteers to lead where appropriate)
• Discipleship: intentional integration into the lives of students in order to facilitate a life-on-life atmosphere (i.e. attending extra-curricular activities of youth, lunch and coffee appointments, sports events, etc.); regularly disciple students in areas such as their daily walk with God, interpersonal relationships, how to foster Godly community, coaching them on conflict resolution, servant leadership, giftings, etc.
• Programming & Event Planning: includes planning regular weekly programing and meal coordination, recruiting/developing/leading volunteers, timely communication with youth and parents, planning and leading a summer mission/service trip and a fall retreat, and other youth-related programing, or oversight for an intern that carries out these tasks
• Working hours are organized around student schedules, so the majority of student engagement will occur outside of school hours and on weekends. Additional time during the day will be spent in an office setting planning activities.
• Establishing and maintaining clear lines of communication with parents, office staff, and youth.
• Will oversee a RYM Youth Internship Program (pending diaconate approval)
• Will diligently and continually seek to recruit and train more Youth Volunteers, so the ministry can thrive under their leadership
• Other duties as assigned by the Session, Senior Pastor and Assistant Pastor of Christian Education

Position Qualifications:

• Committed to the authority of Scripture
• Committed to a life of sanctification and spiritual growth
• Alignment with and commitment to the beliefs of the Presbyterian Church in America
• Alignment with and commitment to the Vision, Mission, and Values of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church • Completed Bachelor’s Degree
• Prior Ministry Experience preferred
• Passionate about building and fostering community within the youth
• Experience with project/event planning
• Competency with basic computer software (Excel, Word, etc.) and Social Media platforms
• Church Membership Required
• Regular attendance at weekly staff meetings, worship services, and all-church gatherings is expected.

Essential skills needed for Youth Ministry at SAPC:
• Must be a strong relationship builder, gatherer, and pursuer of students
• Ability to collaborate with parents to foster the spiritual development of the youth
• Strong communication skills (written and oral)
• Problem solving & conflict resolution skills
• Ability to prioritize, balance multiple tasks, and manage a student ministries budget
• Relational and emotional capacity to carry out effective ministry on a consistent basis
• Collaboration with Senior Pastor and Assistant Pastor of Christian Education regarding reasonable and appropriate boundaries with students, including the wise and discerning use of technology for communication.
