Position Purpose:

Under the leadership of the Pastor of Youth Ministry, the High School Discipleship Resident is to disciple and equip the female students in the High School program of Christ Covenant Youth Ministry (CCYM) and recruit and encourage female leaders to participate in the discipleship of young women under the care of CCYM. The position is anticipated to be a two-year Residency and will assist in the discipleship and development of the High School students and leaders, encouraging them to embrace the gospel and a Christian world and life view, so that “in all things Christ may have preeminence.”

The position is a 37.5 hour per week full-time (FT) position that is eligible for benefits according to Christ Covenant Church’s FT benefits schedule. This position will allow for a combination of on campus and remote work (details to be agreed upon with the Pastor of Youth Ministry).  The typical work schedule will include Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday days; Wednesday afternoons and evenings; and Sunday mornings.  On-campus/in-person work will be required weekly for Youth Staff Meetings (Mondays); All-Staff Prayer Meetings (Tuesdays 8:45-9:30AM); and regularly scheduled Wednesday and Sunday youth events and programs.  Various evening or weekend hours may also be required to support, lead, and participate in departmental trips, retreats, trainings, and projects.

Position Summary:

  • Disciple High School girls by pursuing, encouraging, and equipping them to love and serve Christ with all their heart, soul, strength, and mind
  • Engage, encourage, and assist adult volunteers in using their gifts in service of Christ
  • Help organize and administrate ministry events, summer missions, and other retreats
  • Support and assist the Pastor of Youth Ministry in coordinating all aspects of HS ministry programming for the purpose of discipleship

Reporting Relationships:

This position will report directly to the Pastor of Youth Ministry.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Chemistry and cultural/vocational compatibility with Youth staff, with proven ability to work well with others in a team environment
  • Welcoming and hospitable personality, with a clear love for getting to know others
  • Spiritual discernment, with an ability to graciously impart biblical wisdom to others
  • Motivated self-starter, with a passion to connect with students and leaders
  • Large capacity for relationships and responsibilities
  • Willingness to learn to create printed publications (ex. Publisher), graphic design (ex. Photoshop), social media, CCYM videos, etc.
  • Self-aware, teachable, flexible spirit with ability to receive constructive criticism and encouragement with humility

Education/Training:

Bachelor’s degree

Supporting Experience:

None required, but significant experience volunteering with or working in student and discipleship ministry settings and structures is highly preferred

Basic Roles/Expectations:

  • Disciple High School girls by engaging, encouraging, and equipping them to love and serve Christ with their heart, soul, strength, and mind
  • Work alongside the youth staff to assist the Pastor of Youth Ministry in pursuing the stated mission and purpose of Christ Covenant Church and CCYM
  • Attend all HS CCYM Programs, Events, Retreats, Trips, Training, etc
  • Use a welcoming presence and leadership to serve as a spark of energy and as a magnet for students to be attracted to CCYM and the local church
  • Connect, recruit, and encourage adult leaders who serve in Youth Ministry, supporting them as they grow in their relationship with Christ and volunteer roles
  • Help create effective communications, promotional material, and assist with administrate needs for all Youth events (retreats, events, calendars, mission trips, etc)
  • Provide support and leadership for all Youth programs through effective organization, providing assistance with setup/breakdown of events and programs
  • Develop community with HS girls, and among their peers and leaders
  • Spend time with students in their world and in their daily lives, providing support, encouragement, prayer, and counsel
  • Help plan, prepare, and occasionally teach at Youth Ministry programs and events
  • Help ensure compliance with all church policies and procedures
  • Sincerely attempt to exhibit godly and mature character in all circumstances
  • Give consistent effort towards the development of team chemistry
  • Grow in competency in all aspects of this position

Physical Abilities:

  • Position involves light to medium walking, standing, stooping, carrying, and lifting of lightweight materials (under 25 pounds)
  • Requires visual acuity to read numbers, letters, and images; depth perception; hand and finger dexterity to use a keyboard, and hand-eye coordination
  • Requires speaking and hearing abilities which are sufficient to hear over phone, speak publicly, and carry on routine conversations
