Flex-Residential Courses
RTS Washington offers a number of courses in the Master of Divinity program through a Flex-Residential modality. During a Flex-Residential course, 51 percent of the classroom hours are conducted in person in an intensive format, with the remaining class time held live via Zoom. Because Flex-Residential courses count towards residency requirements for the RTS Washington campus, this modality allows us to maintain our commitment to in-person learning while making it possible for students in the Mid-Atlantic region and New York City to attend class as they balance time at work and with their families. In-person course hours of Flex-Residential classes are consolidated so that students will generally need to come to the RTS Washington campus just once during the course. To learn more, please contact our admissions team and look for course sections noted “Flex Residential” on our list of upcoming classes.
Institute for Theology and Public Life
The Theology and Public Life program integrates biblical, systematic, historical, and practical theology to equip Christians to witness to God’s kingdom in public life. Reformed theology has a rich tradition of reflection on issues of public theology that can be mined to enrich our understanding of our responsibilities and goals in today’s civil sphere. Students will engage a disciplined Reformed approach to biblical and systematic theology in order help hone an outlook cognizant of our place in redemptive history and the doctrinal framework needed to form a sound public theology.
Anglican Studies Program
RTS Washington is partnering with The Falls Church Anglican to provide a course of study aimed at training Anglican ministers and church leaders for the work to which they have been called. The Anglican Studies Program is designed to be taken alongside the Master of Arts (Biblical Studies) degree program (MABS).
The Fellows Initiative
The Fellows Initiative (TFI) is a coalition of more than 20 church-based Fellows programs aimed to equip the rising generation of Christian leaders with a holistic understanding of faith that transforms culture. TFI is an umbrella organization that serves the regional Fellows Programs where bright, hard-working college graduates are placed in 3-4 day workplace internships. Fellows meet for graduate-level academic courses one day a week and are mentored by professionals in their area of vocational calling. Additionally, Fellows engage in community and church service activities.
RTS Washington is one of several academic institutions partnering with TFI to recognize the graduate level academic courses delivered in the Fellows Programs.
Certificate Program
An online graduate certificate is one of the most convenient ways to invest in theological formation and increase the ways you can serve the church. In 8-13 credit, discipline-specific certificate programs, you can deepen your understanding of the Scriptures for personal growth while opening doors for teaching, writing, and more.
