Distance Learning Tips

Online seminary courses provide a convenient and accessible form of seminary education at a distance.  Benefits include the ability to work at your own pace, learn in your most suitable environment, and maintain your current relationships and current lifestyle without having to relocate.  Christian distance education online also requires the same commitment and work ethic that is expected in any classroom.  Theological education as an online student is a manageable and profitable undertaking if you follow some simple advice.

Preparing to Graduate

As you approach your graduation, please complete the RTS Global Intent to Graduate Form, found at the link below, to provide the necessary information pertaining to your diploma and whether you would like to participate in a ceremony.

Student Services FAQs

All online exams require a proctor during the time of the exam. The exam is built into Canvas and thus you do not need to request an exam. However, do make sure your proctor is present during the time of the exam. All exams require a proctor and require the online proctor form to be completed at the conclusion of the exam.

Any adult, including family and current RTS students are permitted to proctor exams.

For all courses, the student has 3 months to complete their course from their start date.

See this helpful guide on crafting and writing your research paper.

All course work must be turned in by the student’s official end date as listed in their start letter. If more time is needed to complete course work, an extension must be purchased from their campus registrar. Any work turned in after the course end date will receive a zero.

A one-month course extension may be purchased for $100 prior to the student’s end date for that particular course.

A student is allowed to purchase only one extension per course.

A global course is the same tuition rate as current RTS residential courses.   Along with the tuition rate, there is also a technology fee (not course delivery fee) of $60 per credit hour.

The technology fee of $60 per credit hour is used in support of the Global Librarian who provides research assistance and support for students; it covers an ongoing subscription to the ATLA database for student research; it helps maintain quality course development; and supports the services offered by the Professor of Record and Teaching Assistant in each class.

All course lectures are available, free of charge, via the RTS Mobile App. The remaining course materials (syllabi, course notebook, exams, schedule, etc.) can be found on the LMS (Learning Management System/Canvas) classroom.

Online courses are available year-round and start every second and fourth Wednesday of the month. Sections are opened for registration about 3 weeks ahead of the course start and closed the Friday prior.

All course registrations for global education are done via MyPortal (myportal.rts.edu). For more information please visit rts.edu/jenzabar-one.

Your Canvas account is linked to your student email account. If you are having issues with your student email account, please contact support@rts.edu.

The weekly schedule in our online classroom is a suggested breakdown of how to progress through the course at a consistent pace that will allow the student to glean the most from the course and be prepared for all assignments.
