Spring 2020 Workshops
Good Mood, Bad Mood: Depression and the Christian Life
January 28, 2019
Depression is one of the most common diagnoses made in medicine today. In this workshop, Dr. Hodges will discuss whether we are in an epidemic or if we have simply misdiagnosed common sadness as depression. Current research in the medical community seems to indicate that the criteria we use to diagnose depression has resulted in an increased and incorrect labeling of common sadness as depression. While medical treatment is now the commonly accepted way to deal with pain and sadness, its promise has not been fulfilled. Dr. Hodges will help us see the importance of sadness and the hope that God gives us in His Word.
Money: Seeking God’s Wisdom
March 30, 2019
Do you have money troubles? Often the underlying issue is not money but the promise of security, possessions, and pleasure that it brings. To lay a strong foundation for true financial success usually involves a change in perspective rather than in income. Dr. Jim Newheiser will share some of Scripture’s wisdom on financial and work-related topics, and how you can point yourself toward fiscal responsibility on earth and treasure in heaven.
About the Workshops
The Equip workshop series exists to assist the Charlotte community by bringing in scholars and speakers to address important issues in counseling and beyond. The hope is that workshop attendees will walk away more equipped to be a minister of Christ in the church and the world. We have approximately three workshops a year and they are held on the RTS Charlotte campus. See below for upcoming and previous workshops.
