We’ve experienced a strong growth cycle over the past year and our church believes this role is necessary in
order to keep the momentum going. We have a strong foundation of young families and the space to grow
ministries to kids & their families. We have a part-time staff member and a dedicated volunteer team that have
done amazing things to keep our kids, youth & families engaged. Furthermore, they all see themselves as a
future support team for whoever comes into this position and takes the lead. We have two strong worship
services (9:00 informal, where most of our young families attend; and 11:00 traditional worship in the
Sanctuary). We have a strong missional sense in the downtown, and we have also begun some new outreach
into the community that has been received well!
We are looking for someone with strong faith & determination, enthusiasm & drive! We envision someone who
is flexible and willing/able to work in a lot of ministry areas, although the primary role with be hands-on with our
kids. We want a relationship builder and a self-starter who will push our church and the leadership into new
territory, even if it’s outside of our “comfort zone.” Overarching the whole position is that we are seeking a
partner who will work alongside our energetic Lead Pastor, who is in his tenth year of ministry here
and benefits greatly from a strong number two!
Nature and Scope of Responsibilities: This position will be primarily engaged in three areas that help us
reach the next generation of church attenders: 9:00 Informal Worship, and Children’s & Family Ministries. In
addition, we are looking for someone who is outreach-minded in respect to our community, and who is
willing to serve in some limited pastoral functions across the breadth of the church’s ministry
Major Accountabilities
- Work with the Family Ministries Team to ensure the church’s vision & goals are being met.
- Continue developing and implementing a strategic plan for vibrant, sustainable Children’s, & Family
ministries. This will include hands-on teaching with our various age groups while being able to delegate
responsible in the other age groups. - Be a part of staff and ministry team meetings, and perform worship functions and pastoral care in
coordination with the staff. Preach as requested and overseen by the Lead Pastor. - Meet with the Lead Pastor and other staff and ministry leaders to coordinate teaching matters, maximize
volunteer team members and develop upcoming calendar of events. - Lead (and develop volunteer leadership for 9:00 Informal Worship, and Children’s & Family Ministries. With the Lead Pastor, oversee the development of 9:00 Informal Worship as it relates to family ministry.
- Work alongside the Session and the Lead Pastor within the larger paradigm of the church to advance worship, ministry programming, missions, fellowship and community engagement across all age groups.
Position Qualifications:
- An entrepreneurial self-starter who can envision and implement new & creative children’s ministry programming.
- A strong recruiter and developer of volunteers to multiply ministry efforts.
- Someone who connects with and can lead within a multi-generational congregation.
- Good teaching gift and missional/outreach focus for the community.
- Bonus skills include worship, social media/communication, and student ministry.
