Job Title:

Director of Children’s Ministry

Job Description:

GraceWay Church Director of Children’s Ministry

Job Description

EXPLANATION We envision a full-time position combining Children’s Ministry and administrative assistance. Children’s Ministry is expected to constitute approximately 30% of the duties of this position; thus, a calling, passion, and skills for ministry to children is essential for a prospective candidate. We are simultaneously exploring fulfilling ministry needs through either a director OR a pastoral role, not both. Hence, two separate job descriptions are presently posted. We consider it essential that ministry staff fully embrace the stated Vision, Values, and Statement of Faith of GraceWay Church, available on the church’s website. It is expected that ministry staff maintain active membership.

PURPOSE The Director of Children’s Ministry is responsible for oversight, administration, and evaluation of ministries serving children of nursery age through 6th grade and includes the Awana program. Administrative Assistance will consist of organizational support for other staff and ministries.

CHILDREN’S MINISTRY Strategically oversee and develop Children’s Ministry weekly programs (Sunday School, Children’s Church, Nursery, Awana) with the engagement of volunteer staff. Recruit, lead, guide, and equip Children’s Ministry volunteers. Personally participate in children’s education on a frequent basis. Oversee curriculum evaluation and selection. Maintain attendance data and manage classroom space and volunteer needs accordingly. Prepare Children’s Ministry annual financial budget and manage expenditures.

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT Develop and implement administrative strategies and tools including written policies and best practices that support ministry functionality. Complete administrative projects as assigned by pastors or lay leadership. Some projects will be conducted independently; many will require managing the project through the involvement of ad hoc committees. Assist with Assimilation and coordination of Congregational Care. Oversee administration of the Child and Youth Protection Plan. Participate in scheduled staff meetings and staff development.

ACCOUNTABILITY The Director shall work under the supervision of the Lead Pastor or his delegate.

WORK SCHEDULE Full- time salaried position with benefits. Work hours will include a combination of on-site hours (Sunday mornings, special events, staff meetings, regular office hours, and other times as necessary) and off-site hours (meetings, phone calls, purchasing, work at home).
