CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Reformed Theological Seminary is pleased to announce the promotion of Dr. Keith Evans from Assistant Professor of Christian Counseling to Associate Professor of Christian Counseling. The promotion is effective June 6, 2024.
Dr. Evans joined the faculty of RTS Charlotte in January 2024 and teaches a number of courses in the Master of Arts in Christian Counseling curriculum and assists Dr. Jim Newheiser in the administration of the program.
“It has been wonderful to have Keith as a colleague. He is already having a wonderful impact on our students and the broader Reformed community. This promotion is well deserved,” said Dr. Newheiser, director of the Christian Counseling Program and professor of Christian Counseling and Pastoral Theology at RTS Charlotte.
A native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and an ordained minister in the RPCNA denomination, he recently earned a Th.M. in Christian ethics and a Ph.D. in Biblical Counseling from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He also holds an M.Div. with a concentration in Counseling from RPTS and a B.A. in Psychology and Christian Thought from Grove City College. His writing has appeared in the Reformed Presbyterian Theological Journal, Tabletalk magazine, and several online outlets.
“This is a well-deserved promotion considering Dr. Evans’ many years of teaching and counseling experience, his excellence in the classroom, and the successful completion of his Ph.D. degree,” said Carl W. McMurray Professor of Theology and Philosophy and RTS Charlotte Academic Dean, Dr. James Anderson. “RTS Charlotte is thrilled to have him on the team. We give thanks to God and offer our warmest congratulations to Dr. Evans.”
