Dr. James R. Newheiser, Jr. Promoted to Professor of Christian Counseling and Pastoral Theology

(CHARLOTTE, N.C.) — RTS Charlotte is pleased to announce the promotion of Dr. James (Jim) R. Newheiser, Jr. from Associate Professor of Christian Counseling and Pastoral Theology to Professor of Christian Counseling and Pastoral Theology, effective June 1, 2022. Dr. Newheiser is also the Director of the Christian Counseling Program at RTS Charlotte.

He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Baylor University and as well as MA and DMin degrees from Westminster Seminary California.

Dr. Newheiser is the author of numerous books and articles, including Money, Debt, and Finances: Critical Questions and Answers (P&R, 2021), How to Love Difficult Parents (New Growth, 2021), Financial Crisis: What to Do When the Bottom Drops Out (New Growth, 2020), and Marriage, Divorce, and Remarriage (P&R, 2017). He is also a frequent contributor to the Biblical Counseling Coalition.

Dr. Michael Kruger, President of the Charlotte campus, commented on Dr. Newheiser’s promotion: “We are so thankful to have Jim Newheiser as part of the Charlotte faculty. After many years as both a pastor and a counselor, Jim brings a treasure trove of wisdom and biblical application to our students in the classroom. The future of the church will be blessed because of his impact on the next generation of leaders.”
