Dr. Ligon Duncan discusses Cracking the Foundation of the New Perspective on Paul by Dr. Robert Cara, a book that examines Second Temple sources to show how some proponents of the New Perspective on Paul have misread them.

Hello, I’m Ligon Duncan, and this is RTS Book Notes. Today, I want to tell you about a book by Dr. Bob Cara. Dr. Cara is a professor of New Testament at Reformed Theological Seminary in Charlotte, but he’s also the Provost and Chief Academic Officer for the entire RTS system. And he’s an expert not only in New Testament, but also in Second Temple Judaism. And this volume is called Cracking the Foundation of the New Perspective on Paul. It really looks at the Second Temple sources to show ways that some of the proponents of the New Perspective on Paul have misread those sources, and thus provided an inadequate background for our understanding of the teaching of Jesus and Paul in the New Testament. This book is published by Christian Focus Publications. It’s in their Mentor series, which is their academic imprint. If you’re studying Paul or Jesus and the law and the background in early Judaism, this book will be a real help to you. Thanks for listening to RTS Book Notes.
