Dr. Ligon Duncan introduces Dr. Sinclair Ferguson’s books Devoted to God and Devoted to God’s Church. These companion volumes discuss sanctification and the importance of belonging to a local church.

Hello. I’m Ligon Duncan, and this is RTS Book Notes. Today, I want to introduce you to two books for the price of one. Dr. Sinclair Ferguson is the Chancellor’s Professor of Systematic Theology for RTS. He teaches throughout the system, and maybe especially Reformed Theological Seminary in Dallas. He’s had a long relationship with our friends in Dallas. But these two books are published by the Banner of Truth. One is called Devoted to God, and it expounds beautifully the gospel doctrine of sanctification, so important for discipleship and the Christian life. And then its companion volume, Devoted to God’s Church, which anchors the growth of the believer in the life of the local congregation, and sketches out for us what the church is meant to be. Dr. Ferguson is not only an accomplished systematic theologian and an able historian of the church, he is an experienced pastor, and it really comes out in both of these volumes, Devoted to God, Devoted to God’s Church. I commend them to you. Thank you for listening to RTS Book Notes.
