Jackson, MS – Reformed Theological Seminary (RTS) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Chris S. Stevens as Assistant Professor of New Testament at RTS Jackson. Dr. Stevens will begin his new role on June 1, 2025.
Dr. Stevens holds a Master of Divinity from Westminster Seminary California and a Ph.D. in Christian Studies with a concentration in Biblical Studies and New Testament from McMaster Divinity College. He currently serves as the Senior Pastor at Covenant Reformed Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Ruston, Louisiana, a position he has held since October 2020.
“We are delighted to welcome Dr. Stevens to our faculty at RTS Jackson,” said Dr. Guy Waters, Academic Dean of RTS Jackson. “Dr. Stevens’s expertise in textual criticism and hermeneutics, coupled with his firm commitment to the inerrancy of Scripture, makes him a fine addition to the biblical studies faculty at RTS. His enthusiastic commitment to the Reformed faith and his experience as a pastor in the PCA means that Dr. Stevens also brings theological depth and pastoral experience into the classroom. These qualities will serve students at RTS very well as they prepare for a lifetime of ministry.”
Dr. Robert J. Cara, Provost and Chief Academic Officer of RTS, noted, “Dr. Stevens brings a valuable combination of rigorous academic training and practical ministry experience to this role. His scholarly work in Pauline studies, textual criticism, and biblical interpretation aligns perfectly with our commitment to Scripture and Reformed theology. We are confident that he will excel in equipping our students with the knowledge and skills they need for faithful ministry.”
Dr. Stevens’ scholarly work includes his monograph “History of the Pauline Corpus in Texts, Transmissions, and Trajectories: A Textual Analysis of Manuscripts from the Second to the Fifth Century,” published by Brill in 2020, as well as numerous academic articles, book chapters, and reviews.
“I am honored to join the distinguished faculty at Reformed Theological Seminary,” said Dr. Stevens. “I look forward to serving Christ in this new capacity, helping students develop a deeper understanding of the New Testament and equipping them to faithfully proclaim God’s Word. My desire is to help students know Christ more intimately and experience His powerful love through careful study of Scripture.”
Dr. Stevens and his wife, Megan, have two sons.
