Dr. William A. Ross Promoted to Associate Professor of Old Testament

(CHARLOTTE, N.C.) — RTS Charlotte is pleased to announce the promotion of Dr. William A. Ross from Assistant Professor of Old Testament to Associate Professor of Old Testament, effective June 1, 2022.  Dr. Ross joined the RTS Charlotte faculty in 2019.

He received his MDiv from Westminster Theological Seminary and completed his Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge as a Cambridge Trust Scholar under Dr. James K. Aitken. His dissertation, entitled Postclassical Greek and Septuagint Lexicography, was recently published by SBL Press in spring 2022.

Dr. Ross has co-authored and edited several recent publications, including Postclassical Greek Preposition and Conceptual Metaphor: Cognitive Semantic Analysis and Biblical Exegesis (edited with Steven E. Runge; DeGruyter, 2022); The Septuagint: What it is and Why it Matters (with Gregory R. Lanier; Crossway, 2021); T&T Clark Handbook of Septuagint Research (edited with W. Edward Glenny Bloomsbury T&T Clark, 2021). He is a teaching elder in the PCA and blogs regularly at Septuaginta &c.

Dr. Michael Kruger, President of the Charlotte campus, commented on Dr. Ross’s promotion: “We are so thankful to have Will Ross as part of the Charlotte faculty. He has already established himself as one of the leading Septuagint scholars today and is active both in the academic community and the local church. That combination embodies the RTS ethos, and we know our students will be blessed by his ministry for years to come.”
