Overview:

  • Under the supervision and direction of the pastor and session, the Ministry Director for Youth Discipleship & Outreach willprovide vision, oversight, and leadership for discipleship and outreach ministries at Oak Hills. These ministries include youth, young adults, and community outreach. The Ministry Director will have ongoing interaction with the Session regarding use of time and ministry priorities. The session is willing to offer a call as assistant pastor, if God leads in that way.

Qualifications:

  • Character: Enamored by grace, filled with grace, and growing in grace.
  • Theological Conviction: We are a Reformed church, therefore a preferred candidate would be able to receive and adopt the Westminster Standards as containing the system of doctrine taught in Scriptures.
  • Education: Completed a college degree with the plans to pursue, or already in the process of pursuing, a Master of Divinity (or equivalent).
  • Ministry Giftedness & Passion: evangelism; leadership (organizing and empowering volunteers); administration (planning and strategy); self-initiating and self-driven; a love for youth and their spiritual development.
  • Experience: prior ministry leadership experience with youth preferred.

Position Qualifications:

Specific Responsibilities:

Youth Ministry

  • Provide vision, organize, and lead the discipleship of the youth (grades 6th through 12th), including the evaluation and selecting of the programing and curriculum used for discipleship.
  • Recruit, train, and encourage volunteers to participate in the discipleship of youth.
  • Develop this area of ministry, including reaching non-churched youth, facility improvements, expansion of discipleship and service opportunities, and special events or activities.
  • Engage in personal discipleship relationships with youth.
  • Walk alongside visitors or parents newly in this stage to navigate the ministry of their youth.
  • Work with Presbytery and local PCA churches in collaborative ministry efforts.

Young Adult Ministry

  • Develop and oversee a ministry to college-aged and recent college graduate young adults.
  • Build connections with local colleges and universities as an outreach.
  • Maintain a relationship with the RUF ministries at KU and K-State so graduates that may move to the KC area are familiar with Oak Hills.
  • Encourage and facilitate the assimilation of young adults into the life and ministry of Oak Hills.

Outreach Ministry

  • Provide training and encouragement for personal evangelism.
  • Strategize avenues for the church to increase her presence and impact in the community for the sake of the gospel.
  • Oversee and facilitate the church’s internet presence as an avenue for outreach.
  • Champion opportunities for the church to serve the community.
  • Organize and lead missions trips. Miscellaneous
  • Assist the pastor with general pastoral needs (i.e. Sunday liturgy, occasional preaching, hospital visits, etc.).

Compensation

  • This is a full-time call. $50k-$60k annual salary based on level of experience and education, plus benefits. Full call package will be discussed in the interview process.
