Job Title:
Senior Pastor
Job Description:
The Pastor Search Committee of Oak Street Baptist Church (OSBC) in Graham, TX is seeking the man that will become the next pastor for our congregation. The process has been a joyful experience, full of unity and faith. Through many conversations, input from the congregation, and much prayer and seeking the Lord’s direction, we are confidently unified around the character and qualifications of the man to whom God is leading us.
The future pastor of OSBC will be unequivocally committed to the inerrancy and authority of the inspired Word of God, and therefore, will not yield on Biblical principles nor stray from the Truth of the doctrines of traditional Christian orthodoxy.
As a result, our next pastor will be an effective preacher/teacher, skilled in exegesis and expository teaching of the Word of God. As an expositor, we expect the pastor to aid in equipping the church as we continue to deepen our knowledge of the Almighty and to establish a culture of sowing deeply the seed of God’s Word into the lives of others.
We must have a pastor who cultivates a close, devotional relationship with God, and as such, exhibits that he knows Him through experience. We also desire to know the pastor’s heart as he invites others into his journey of faith with Christ by living out an authentic expression of the Gospel in real life.
OSBC’s next pastor will hold an unwavering commitment to the Biblical education of the church as we continue to grow in our knowledge and understanding of God as the Gospel takes root in our lives. We understand this could include, but is not limited to: sound teaching, doctrinal training, authentic discipleship, and Christian education.
We seek a pastor that is an effective leader that possesses courage, faith, and skill, yet who also grows in meekness, gentleness and humility. Our pastor will come alongside a team of elders to shepherd the church with a gospel-centered approach. Cultivating and leading in an environment of grace and truth is crucial as the staff, leaders and congregants execute the daily mission of Oak Street Baptist Church. That mission is to love God and people and to make disciples of all nations, beginning in our local community.
The pastor of OSBC is a member of the elder board and, therefore, will meet the qualifications of an elder as found in 1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9, and 1 Peter 5:1-4. In addition, as our new pastor continues to experience the transforming power of the Gospel in his own life and the life of his family, we expect to see the fruits of the Spirit continuously grow in his life, and as a result, encourage others as well.
The culture in the world is increasingly antagonistic to the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the beliefs, values and convictions of Christ-followers. OSBC will not bow to the pressure of the culture and compromise Scripture. We will not be a church that compromises. Therefore, we ask God for a man full of faith, courage, hope, and vision to help lead a congregation that is a life-giving refuge in the midst of a world full of hopelessness and despair; a city on a hill that reflects the goodness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the power of the Holy Spirit, and the glory of God our Father.
