Family Outreach Pastor
Job Description:
Overview: The Family Outreach Minister is responsible for outreach and ministry to young families and children/youth. Given Young Meadows’ desire to reach the next generation with the gospel, the F.O.M. will spend his time directly reaching children, as well as young adults/families. Candidates should embrace and embody the mission of Young Meadows. The F.O.M. will be called as an Assistant Pastor, will serve at the behest of the Session, and will report directly to the Senior Pastor.
Responsibilities:
● Family Ministry (45 %)
- Outreaching children, youth and families in the community, especially in conjunction with Young Meadows partnerships; developing ministry plan to reach unbelieving children and families
- Serving as liaison to Young Meadows’ children’s and youth ministries
- Participating and providing direction to the Family Ministry Team.
- Overseeing and mentoring Youth Intern / Assistant Director. Internship program to be initiated which develops Youth Director.
● Young Adult Ministry (30 %)
- Overseeing ministry to young adults and young married couples; developing ministry plan, including engaging the lost, the fostering of community and direct discipleship of young adults/married couples at YM.
● Other Pastoral Ministry (25%)
- Serving on the Community and Missions Committee to ensure that the church’s mission and objectives are being pursued.
- Assisting church staff in counseling, especially as it relates to parents of children and youth, along with young adults/ married couples.
- Assisting regularly in worship leading of services
- Preaching regularly (every four to six weeks); in addition, be available to other churches within the presbytery for stated supply.
- Regular attendance and involvement in Presbytery and General Assembly meetings and committee assignments.
Position Qualifications:
- Masters of Divinity
- Ordained in the PCA or able to be ordained.
- Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to engage and connect with different ages and demographics.
- Works well as part of a broad team
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Excellent organizational, and project management skills
- Prioritizes own time well without close supervision
- God’s grace in Jesus Christ as the central feature of one’s life and doctrine
- Actively following Jesus, growing daily in faith, humility and integrity
- Background in the Presbyterian Church in America or similar Reformed denomination
- Affirmation of the beliefs & values of YMPC and agreement with the Westminster Confession of Faith and its catechisms as well as the PCA’s Book of Church Order
