Director of Youth Ministries

Job Description:

The Youth Director will have a love for Jesus and desire to serve Him by ministering to the youth at LPC.  We seek a self-motivated leader to keep activities for our youth well-organized.  The Youth Director will need to establish meaningful relationships with children ranging from kindergarten to 12th grade. This individual will be expected to train and equip young people in Bible literacy, prayer life, and evangelism.

  • Meet weekly and separately with each age group
  • Create a Gospel-focused teaching, discipleship, and missional ministry
  • Focus on youth of LPC members, attendees and their friends
  • Recruit adults and young adults to assist in youth programs
  • Plan trips for student ministries
  • Maintain and create a culture of hospitality
  • Encourage youth in their endeavors (concerts, games, etc)
  • Attend LPC and complete new members class
  • Pray for students and their families
  • Clearly communicate with the church family and parents about upcoming events
  • Work to integrate youth into the life of the church

Position Qualifications:

  • Relevant college degree preferred
  • Satisfactory background check
  • Proven organizational skills (i.e. successful programs led, leadership positions held, etc.)
  • Experience working with youth and families
  • Rightly interprets Scripture to disciple the youth in their walk and growth in the Lord.

Description of Organization

Lancaster Presbyterian Church (LPC), located in Lancaster, NY just outside Buffalo, is looking for a Director of Youth Ministries.  We are approximately a 150 - member church with a campus consisting of the worship facility, Sunday School classrooms and Potters House for youth activities. We currently have a worship service at 9:30 followed by Sunday School classes at 11:00 for all ages including adults.  There is a thriving small group ministry meeting in homes during the week.

For over 200 years, we have been committed to proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ in all we say and all we do to make and equip disciples in our families, our community, and the world.  We believe in the authority of Scripture and we affirm the historic teachings of Reformed Christianity.

Our church has had a history of successful youth programming benefitting from established traditions and many volunteers from the congregation preferably coordinated by a youth director.
