I began in spring of 2021, and thanks to the encouragement of faculty and staff, I applied for the Hughes Scholarship during that first semester. The process from beginning to end was a joy.

The Hughes Scholarship and the Hughes family have given me the blessing of this seminary education, but also the freedom and opportunity to pursue multiple full-time summer internships, a consistent part-time internship during the school year, time to focus on my studies, and time to invest in my seminary and church communities.
Scott Stinson
The toughest thing about seminary is arguably not seminary itself, but the challenges that occur outside of the classroom— financial strains, familial stressors, and on and on. It is a fight to be able to focus on what you are learning! But this is where the Hughes Scholarship is an unspeakable gift; it has given me, and by extension my wife, the freedom to focus on, and enjoy, what we came to Orlando to do: Pursue a rich theological education.

HUGHES SCHOLARS | The Hughes Scholarship has proven to be one of the best gifts God has ever given me. I am both amazed at how I am already enriched by it, but I’m convinced I’ve not yet seen all the benefits in ministry yet to come.

HUGHES SCHOLARS | Receiving the Hughes Scholarship has enabled me to not only go to seminary without accruing burdensome debt, it's freed me to continue ministering to college students while in seminary.

HUGHES SCHOLARS | The generosity and provision that God has lavished on myself and the other recipients through the Hughes family will make an impact on us, and, God willing, all those whom we will have the pleasure of serving throughout our time in ministry.

HUGHES SCHOLARS | When I graduated from college, RTS Orlando was my clear first choice for seminary. My wife and I were committed to graduating from seminary with little to no student debt and were unsure of how long we would need to work full-time until we could afford the cross-country move and tuition.

HUGHES SCHOLARS | When my wife and I began praying about and seriously considering our call into vocational ministry we discussed at great length the sacrifice of time and finances that an M.Div. degree would require of us both and of our marriage.
Michael McGregor
HUGHES SCHOLARS | My wife and I had looked over the numbers so many times that just seeing an excel sheet made us sick. The calling seemed clear to pursue seminary, but the means certainly were not. We heard about the Hughes scholarship and decided to apply.

HUGHES SCHOLARS | For the last six years God has been clearly calling me to seminary. Reformed Theological Seminary was my first choice of schools, but I certainly doubted that I would ever be able to attend, chiefly due to finances.

HUGHES SCHOLARS | When I was considering theological education, I was immediately drawn to RTS Orlando. However, I was only a couple of years out of college with little savings that could even chip away at the full cost of education.

HUGHES SCHOLARS | Without the Hughes Scholarship, my seminary experience would not have been possible. The financial freedom afforded by this generous scholarship allowed my wife and me to study at RTS at the same time and cultivate our callings together.
