Ruth C. Samuelson loved – and served – her state, her community, her church and her Lord. On January 23, 2017, Ruth entered into the presence of her Lord. Before her passing, Ruth and her family made arrangements for a significant gift to RTS Charlotte. This commitment, one of the largest scholarship gifts in the 25-year history of RTS Charlotte, will be used to create the Providence House Scholarship.
Please watch the video below to enjoy a brief conversation between Dr. Mike Kruger and Ken Samuelson about Ruth and the story behind the gift and the scholarship. Or click here to read the full story.

Ruth’s indomitable spirit, generosity, intellect and selflessness are well-known in Charlotte and beyond, as is her love for God, His word and His church. At RTS Charlotte, we are blessed to have had Ruth as a friend and we are very grateful to Ruth, Ken and the entire Samuelson family for their generosity to us.
To Apply
The Providence House Scholarship aids full-time RTS Charlotte Master of Divinity students who demonstrate promise for pulpit ministry and who have a desire to serve as a pastor in a local church. This generous $25,000 award is designed for students entering their second year in the MDiv program, and both American and international students are eligible. Normally, applicants would be enrolled full-time in their first year of the MDiv program.
To apply for this competitive scholarship, students must fill out the Providence House Scholarship Application. The deadline for applications is February 1. Since RTS does not stack scholarships, if awarded, the Providence House Scholarship would replace the student’s existing financial aid.
