Description of Organization
The First Presbyterian Church, Port Gibson, Mississippi, was founded in 1807. The current
historical structure was built in 1859 and is well known for “the hand pointing to heaven” which
tops the steeple. We praise God for His faithfulness to this congregation over so many years. He
has blessed us with a rich heritage. It is our desire that people would not simply lift their eyes to
our steeple, with its hand pointing to heaven, but instead lift their hearts in faith to the
transcendent God to Whom it points.
Our church in conjunction with the Yokena Presbyterian Church is looking for a pastor to help us
spread the Reformed faith in Southwest Mississippi. We are looking for a leader who has a heart
for people, one who desires to feed his congregation with Bible based sermons designed to grow
us spiritually, and one who willingly desires to visit the sick and infirm to provide
encouragement and hope.
