Job Title:

Senior Pastor

Job Description:

Full-Time Minister Position

Hopewell Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church in Covington, Georgia is seeking a minister.

Established in 1830, we are one of the oldest churches in the ARP denomination, with a communicant membership roll of 28.  We trace our origins back to Chester county, SC where Hopewell ARP Church for which we are named still flourishes.

We are a loving and friendly group of believers, who share each other’s burdens and labors.  Visitors who pass through our doors will be met with smiling faces and warm handshakes.  As do so many churches, we enjoy our fellowship meals, men’s breakfasts, and ladies prayer groups.

Hopewell is located in a prosperous and growing county, which is designated part of the Metropolitan Atlanta Statistical Area.  A mix of commercial and industrial businesses along with a developing technology park are creating desirable job and career opportunities, which are bringing skilled workers and families to our area.

We desire a minister who will work hard at embedding himself in the community in order to understand how to best go about engaging the lost and attracting families to a community church which will make them feel welcome and motivate them to become active members hungering to grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ.

The minister in his role as teaching elder will work with the other members of the session to shepherd the flock the Lord has put under our care.  We will care for the congregation through individual or joint visits in the home to pray, counsel, admonish, and encourage.  For members confined to their homes by physical limitations, the minister and an elder may administer the Lord’s Supper as directed by the session.

Sunday school is an important part of our Lord’s Day gathering.  We are blessed to have an active participatory session that is made up of men who are gifted in teaching and who enjoy leading classes where the members are encouraged to dialogue and grow in the Lord’s grace.

By this brief introduction, we hope that we have piqued your interest in a small but faithful congregation, which wishes to serve a fast growing community in a challenging and changing twenty-first century.
