Job Description:
First Presbyterian Church – Bucyrus, Ohio is seeking to fill the position of FULL-TIME LEAD PASTOR
This 74-member church will be celebrating its 200th anniversary in 2028 and is located in the
City of Bucyrus which is approx. 65 miles directly north of the state capitol of Columbus and
45 miles south of Lake Erie one of our country’s Great Lakes. We are located approx. 110 miles southwest of Cleveland and 170 miles northeast of Cincinnati.
We have been a member of E.P.C. since 2012 after previously being affiliated with PCUSA.

One special item we’re particularly proud of is that we recently created a “new” part-time position Director of Spiritual Care (which has been filled by one of our Ruling Elders, that recently retired from the teaching profession) — this person will work hand-in-hand with the LEAD PASTOR as well as our staff and an active-membership in ministering to our congregation and community.
After six (6) years of faithful service, our former pastor recently chose to move to an “EPC New Church Plant” in Montana.
Now our church membership is prayerfully seeking a pastor with the following gifts, skills and characteristics:
• Solid Biblical knowledge with appropriate academic degrees (Proverbs 1:7)
• Sound in the Reformed Doctrine and also The Essentials (as described by the EPC)
• Highly effective teacher/preacher whose messages are Biblically based and presented to all ages and levels of education in language that is easy to understand and can be applied to growth in our daily lives (Daniel 12:3)
• Strong commitment to the congregation with a heart for small city/church ministry
(2nd Corinthians 2:14-17)
• Strong evangelical basis with high moral/ethical behavior (John 15:1-8)
• Committed to God and belief that ministry is their calling (Philippians 4:8-9)
• Strengths in communications, leadership and team-building
• Makes in-person visits to local hospitals, nursing homes and those home-bound
• Continues to develop their own faith, skills and Christian education
• Outreach to and involvement with the local community
