Job Description:

Church Music Ministries include the following:
1. Worship Services
a. Assist the pastoral staff in planning worship.
b. Select and coordinate choral, vocal, and instrumental music for all services.
c. Lead, teach and train the church in congregational singing.
d. Weddings/Funerals

Position available: Director of Music Ministries: Full Time (approx. 40 hrs.)
First Presbyterian Church, Lake Wales Florida
Start Date: July 1st, 2024 or after
The Director of Music Ministries shall administer the music program for the entire church and is accountable to
the Senior Minister, the Session of Elders and the Music Committee.
First Presbyterian Church is a member of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Synod (www.arpchurch.org), a
confessional and Reformed denomination. Any candidate must agree with the “Philosophy of Music in
Worship and Ministry” document of First Presbyterian Church. (2009) Any candidate, having reservation or
objections to items found within the “ARP Directory of Public Worship” should present these concerns to the
Music Committee. As stated in the “Philosophy of Music,” any candidate must make a clear profession of faith
in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, graciously reflecting this profession in their life, and must hold to the Bible
as God’s inspired Word, and their one rule of faith and how to live.
The Director of Music Ministries holds a position of great potential and responsibility for a personal spiritual
ministry among the people with whom they work. Therefore, the Director of Music Ministries will take a
personal interest in the spiritual and physical needs of all those under their care in the music ministry of the
church.
Church Music Ministries include the following:
1. Worship Services
a. Assist the pastoral staff in planning worship.
b. Select and coordinate choral, vocal, and instrumental music for all services.
c. Lead, teach and train the church in congregational singing.
d. Weddings/Funerals
2. Music Ensembles
a. Direct, recruit, train and manage the choirs and accompanists/instrumentalists.
b. Oversee and/or direct all church choirs, instrumental ensembles which currently consists of
• Musical Beginnings: ages 0-3
• Covenant Kids: ages 4-6
• King’s Singers: ages 7-14
• Middle School/High School
• Adult Choir
• Handbell Choir
• Brass Ensemble
• Additional Musicians (as needed)
• Concerts (when scheduled

3. Miscellaneous Responsibilities
a. Maintenance of pianos, organ and handbells.
b. Maintain music library (both on Excel and filing) including purchase and maintenance of music.
c. Lead the Music Committee in planning music for the church and the budget

Position Qualifications:

Desired Requirements:
1. College Degree (minimum Bachelor of Music. Master’s preferred)
2. Experience leading with music and choirs in worship and other church related music experiences.
3. A strong desire to serve God in the church setting with music being the prominent gift.

e. Be responsible for organ, piano, instrumental music for all worship services.
f. Maintain CCLI licenses and reporting when required.
g. Participate in Summer programs.
