(MARIETTA, Ga.) — Reformed Theological Seminary, Atlanta, is pleased to announce that it will now offer the Master of Arts (Theological Studies) (MATS) program. Registration for this program is available for new students and for Master of Arts (Religion or Biblical Studies) students who wish to transfer to the MATS program.
“The addition of the MATS degree to RTS Atlanta will help us to serve our students more effectively by providing an academic master’s degree in the area of theology,” said President Guy Richard. “This degree complements the degree offerings we already have quite nicely and fills in a gap in what we were able to provide before. I look forward to seeing how the Lord will use this new degree to prepare men and women for service in his kingdom.”
The MATS curriculum is designed for Christians who desire to integrate theological studies with cultural and social concerns. With 66 credits weighted toward studies in systematic theology, graduates of the program will be provided with a theological framework for their life and work, whether in a church staff position or a career outside of vocational ministry.
Academic Dean Richard Belcher shared, “The MATS degree will give flexibility to students who want to focus on theology. It will also strengthen the other degree programs at the Atlanta campus.”
RTS Atlanta
RTS Atlanta is a growing campus located on eight beautiful acres just outside of the Perimeter in south Marietta. The campus has been training pastors, campus ministers, missionaries, educators, and church leaders in the Atlanta area for more than 20 years. They currently have around 200 students who are studying for the Master of Divinity degree, the Master of Arts degree (in Religion, Biblical Studies, or Theological Studies), and a variety of other certificate and course offerings.
RTS Atlanta is also home to the Alonzo and Althea Edmiston Center for the Study of the Bible & Ethnicity (ECSBE), which seeks to foster an appreciation for the histories and cultures of people groups that are outside of the dominant culture and, in doing so, to provide additional training for church leaders who especially want to minister in multi-ethnic, cross-cultural, and foreign missions contexts.
