Geoff Sackett Named Dean of Students at RTS-Washington

McLean, Va. – Geoff Sackett has been appointed Dean of Students for the Washington, D.C. campus of Reformed Theological Seminary.  Sackett’s appointment is part of a larger initiative to prioritize and develop the RTS learning community following the seminary’s recent move to a campus location near Tysons Corner, Va.

“As Dean of Students, Geoff will oversee the launch and development of a formal Student Life program,” said RTS-Washington President Scott Redd.  “I believe Geoff’s experience with the campus, scholarly expertise, and pastoral rapport with the students of RTS-Washington uniquely qualify him for this important work within our student body.”

Sackett has been a member of the RTS-Washington community since 2001.  He served for a period as Registrar and currently holds the position of Director of Admissions.  Sackett will continue to oversee the admissions department in his new role.

Prior to his work with RTS, Sackett worked in the public sector for a member of the United States Congress and for a trade association representing technology companies.  Responding to a different call on his life, he commenced theological studies at RTS Washington, graduating with a Master of Arts (Religion) in 2005.

In addition to his work with RTS, he is currently a doctoral student in theology at The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., and is under care in the Presbyterian Church in America.  He has taught adult education at Fourth Presbyterian Church in Bethesda, Md., and ministers to young adults at McLean Presbyterian Church in McLean, Va.

Born in Washington, D.C., and raised in its suburbs, Sackett met his wife Heather, also a Washington area native, at Fourth Presbyterian Church.  “Heather and I love the D.C. area, and we love raising our three children in a place deeply in need of the transforming work of the Lord Jesus Christ,” said Sackett.
