(Orlando, Fla.) – Sharon Hersh, an author and licensed counselor in Colorado, has taught two main classes for the Master of Arts in Counseling program at Reformed Theological Seminary Orlando campus for seven years as a guest faculty member. Seeing the value that she brings to the RTS counseling program, Hersh was approved as Adjunct Professor of Counseling by the RTS Orlando campus and on July 12 by the Executive Committee of the RTS Board of Trustees.
Hersh typically teaches her two signature classes—Addictions and Sexuality and Sex Therapy—as one week intensive classes in summer and January each year. With this move, Sharon now will spend a semester on campus this year (spring semester 2013) teaching those two classes, as well as providing supervision in the Oviedo Counseling Clinic, which is staffed by student counselors and run out of the RTS Orlando campus. She will also teach a Doctor of Ministry class January 28-February 1, Addictions: Finding Lasting Freedom, along with her colleagues and RTS professors Dr. Jim Coffield and Dr. Scott Coupland. RTS students will greatly benefit from having her on campus for more than two weeks out of the year.
“Sharon has been loved as a guest professor at RTS Orlando for several years,” said President Don Sweeting. “It is a joy to welcome her in her new role as adjunct faculty as we seek to build strong healthy leaders and churches for the glory of Christ and his kingdom.”

Hersh is a licensed professional counselor, author, speaker, teacher, and a certified life coach. She earned a MA in Counseling from Colorado Christian University. Her active private counseling practice has an emphasis in the areas of addiction, relationships, adolescents, family systems, and personal transformation. She is the author of several books, including The Last Addiction, Begin Again-Believe Again, Bravehearts and five parenting books. She is a frequent speaker and teacher at universities, seminaries, conferences, and retreats. Also she regularly hosts Beyond Addiction Conferences. Hersh is working with a cutting-edge mobility company writing mobile phone apps to allow people to use this ever-present technology in a way that gives them immediate access to health and hope. She is the Director of Women’s Recovery & Renewal, a retreat ministry to struggling women and their caregivers. She lives in Lone Tree, Colo., loves to travel, read, listen to music, and spend time with her friends.
