(ORLANDO, Fla.)—Dr. Don Sweeting, president of Reformed Theological Seminary Orlando, is pleased to announce Dr. Kevin Collins as the new director of admissions and placement beginning in June. Tom Nelson, former director of admissions who graduated from RTS Orlando May 25 with a Masters of Divinity degree, will pursue a call to plant a church in Central Florida. Collins has worked alongside Nelson during a well-planned and executed 60-day transition period.
“We are thrilled to have Kevin Collins on our team,” said Don Sweeting, president of RTS Orlando. “Not only is Kevin a seasoned young pastor, he has also spent time in marketing and sales in the corporate world. Kevin knows the seminary world from time spent at two seminaries earning degrees. He has a heart for preparing pastors and leaders for the global church. He also has the ability to motivate and encourage others to follow Christ and prepare for a lifetime of ministry.”
Collins brings a wealth of experience to this position. Having earned a Doctor of Ministry degree from Covenant Theological Seminary and a Masters of Divinity degree from Knox Theological Seminary, he is passionate about equipping the next generation of church leaders, teachers and counselors so they can be used by God to strengthen and expand the kingdom of Christ.
Collins most recently served as senior pastor of West End Presbyterian Church in Hopewell, Va., for nine years. Before that he served as assistant pastor/church planting apprentice at Kirk o’ the Isles in Savannah, Ga., under the leadership of Dr. Michael A. Milton, who is currently the chancellor of the RTS system.
Born and raised in Oakridge, Tenn., Collins earned his B.S. degree in marketing from the University of Tennessee, and worked 11 years in sales for Bryan Foods, Inc., which is a division of Sara Lee.
