(JACKSON, MS) – The Reformed Theological Seminary Board of Trustees has appointed Victor H. (Hu) Meena, Jr. as a board member. Meena serves as president and chief executive officer of C Spire, (formerly Cellular South), an award-winning wireless provider to all of Mississippi and parts of four southeastern states.
“Hu brings a skill set and expertise that will help fuel the growth and effectiveness of RTS in the years ahead,” said Richard Ridgway, chairman of the board of RTS. “We are thrilled and thankful to have Hu join the Board. His spiritual maturity and business acumen will be invaluable to the ministry of the Seminary.”
Meena has served with Cellular South, since the late 80’s when he was general manager of their first market on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, then promoted to vice president of operations and development, and later named president. He was also responsible for the start-up operations of Telepak Networks, now operating under C Spire Fiber.
In 2011, a rebranding exercise launched C Spire Wireless, which also offers other communications services. Later, C Spire became the first regional focused carrier in the U.S. to provide the Apple iPhone. Prior to joining Cellular South, Meena served as the general manager of Southland Systems of Mississippi, Inc., a long distance telecommunications service provider.
He also serves on the board for directors of Telapex, Inc. and is the chair of the American Heart Association’s Heart Walk for the Jackson, Miss. area. He was recently elected to be an elder at First Presbyterian Church in Jackson, Miss., and will be installed as an elder on Dec. 7, 2014.
Meena and his wife Ashley have three sons.
