MARIETTA, Ga. — Reformed Theological Seminary is pleased to announce that Dr. Gabriel Fluhrer has been appointed as Adjunct Professor of Systematic Theology at RTS Atlanta, effective November 2, 2023.
Dr. Fluhrer, a Presbyterian minister and Christian educator, is currently the senior pastor at First Presbyterian Church in Chattanooga, Tenn. He has pastored churches in the PCA, ARP, and OPC denominations across the American South.
“It is a great joy to have Gabe teaching for the Atlanta campus,” said President Dr. Guy Richard. “Gabe has been a good friend of mine for many years now. I have always admired his commitment to the church and his passion to invest in the next generation of church ministry leaders. I am grateful to have his continued influence on our campus.”
Dr. Fluhrer holds a B.A. in philosophy from the University of South Carolina and an MDiv from Greenville Presbyterian Theological Seminary. His Ph.D. in historical and theological studies from Westminster Theological Seminary focused on the apologetics of Cornelius Van Til. He has written or edited several books and articles, including Alive: How the Resurrection of Christ Changes Everything (Reformation Trust, 2020).
Since 2014, Dr. Fluhrer has served as a professor of record for a number of RTS Global systematic theology courses. He has also served since 2017 as a visiting lecturer at the Atlanta campus. As an adjunct professor, Dr. Fluhrer will have an ongoing relationship with the seminary, ordinarily teaching annually. He and his wife Elizabeth have three girls.
“It has been one of the great joys of ministry to have the privilege of teaching at RTS Atlanta these past five years, and I praise God for the opportunity from the board and faculty to join the RTS family as an adjunct professor,” said Dr. Fluhrer. “The Lord is at work in an amazing way through RTS and I’m honored to be a small part of what He’s doing in Atlanta.”
