Worship Accompanist: Boyce Memorial ARP Church
Job Description:
Duties
Assist the pastor in planning and preparing all church worship programs (to include selection of hymns and music as needed).
Accompany congregational hymns.
Play the organ and/or piano (prelude, postlude and background music as needed) at all regular Sunday services; plus, whenever feasible, special services, funerals and weddings (Any honorariums for weddings or funerals are the responsibility of the families involved). Incorporate other instruments (guitar, woodwinds, etc.) when available.
Play piano as needed for special services on Maundy Thursday, Christmas Eve and other special services as may come up.
Accompany groups or soloists on the piano as needed.
Hours: 5-8 hours per week
Salary: $12-15k (depending on experience)

Position Qualifications:
Proficiencies:
Play the piano in a professional manner, with few missed notes or pauses.
Accompany congregational hymn singing in the traditional manner. This means that the hymn tune is played with the harmony as given, but tasteful minor variations (ad-lib) may be substituted at Accompanist discretion.
It would be helpful if the Accompanist could sing the congregational hymns while playing and allow his or her voice to be picked up for the live stream and the nursery. However, it is understood that not everyone has the voice or range for this.
Have adequate sight-reading skills, to deal with changes in music or accompaniments on short notice.
