JOB OVERVIEW AND OBJECTIVE

The Student Ministry Pastor will be someone with a vision to reach and disciple junior and senior high students, overseeing the implementation of ministry activities that encourage and support their spiritual growth. This individual will be called to think creatively and lead boldly, helping make Grace’s Student Ministry a destination for students across the surrounding communities—a place where students are drawn not just by events, but by meaningful relationships, gospel-centered teaching, and authentic community.

They will embody innovation, looking for outside-the-box approaches to reach and retain students. A key part of this role will also include intentional engagement within local schools—building visibility, trust, and relationships with students and school staff in the broader community.

The Student Ministry Pastor will also equip parents to lead their students to a life-changing pursuit of Christ, as well as disciple and lead the Student Ministry staff.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop a vibrant and outward-facing Student Ministry that identifies the needs and interests of junior and senior high students, positioning it as a destination ministry for students across surrounding communities. Lead with gospel-centered creativity that invites engagement, belonging, and future impact.
  • Cultivate strong visibility and engagement in local schools through on-campus presence, student involvement, and strategic relationships with administrators, staff, and student leaders.
  • Lead and creatively shape Sunday morning Bible study and the midweek gathering to reflect cultural relevance, relational energy, and biblical depth—leveraging these environments to attract and retain students from within and beyond the church.
  • Participate in all levels of Leadershift, bringing innovative thinking and leadership development to coaches and coordinators across Sunday, Wednesday, and special events.
  • Work closely with coordinators and coaches to ensure the effective recruiting, training, and ongoing discipleship of small group leaders and special events volunteers.
  • Support parents by providing resources in the areas of baptism/salvation and parenting students in our current culture.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and oversee the development of opportunities for family experiences.
  • Champion a culture of innovation and outside-the-box thinking within the Student Ministry team—experimenting with new approaches, evaluating effectiveness, and shaping environments that resonate with Gen Z and Alpha students.
  • Ensures that all Student Ministry programming environments align with the Grace Way standards of excellence, care, safety, and engagement, encompassing curriculum, space utilization, parent experience, safety protocols, special events, and small groups.

  • Maintain an active relationship with Jesus Christ sustained through the practice of personal spiritual disciplines.
  • Embody Christlikeness and lead with humility, character, and love
  • Demonstrate commitment to unity and a willingness to work in a collaborative team environment
  • Be personally engaged with GBC’s mission, vision, and strategy
  • Support GBC’s beliefs, core values, and practices as outlined in the Doctrinal Statement
  • Attend staff and leadership meetings as scheduled
  • Meet weekly with Spiritual Formation Pastor
  • Maintain annual Ministry Partner agreement
  • Remain up to date on all activities and ministries going on at all GBC campuses to be able to disseminate information as needed.

Position Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • Experience working with student ministry

  • Relational leader with the ability to inspire, attract, and develop individuals both personally and in leadership roles, especially within youth culture contexts.

  • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively across generations, ministry departments, and with volunteers, parents, and community partners.
