Description of Organization

Overview:  West Hopewell Presbyterian Church (WHPC) in Hopewell, Virginia is seeking a solo pastor that is “a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit” (Acts 6:5) to encourage our elders and joining them in shepherding our congregation.

About WHPC: We are a congregation of God's people, committed to glorifying God, enjoying Him, and loving our neighbor as ourselves, "And you shall be my people, and I will be your God." (Jeremiah 30:22), serving Hopewell and surrounding area.

We are a small congregation consisting of many senior members. God has blessed our congregation with a strong history of commitment to the Scriptures and the truth of the Gospel. God has granted us a core membership of sound, stable believers who are willing and dependable workers. He has given members gifts of help and service. We are a hands-on congregation quick to respond to the needs of others “Which of these three, do you think, proved to be a neighbor to the man who fell among the robbers?” He said, “The one who showed him mercy.” And Jesus said to him, “You go, and do likewise.”" (Luke 10:36-37).

Because the city has experienced changes in demographics over the history of WHPC, the neighborhood surrounding our church is different than the members that attend. The Church continues to build trust and relationships with our neighbors and have adopted a mission to “Proclaim the Love of Jesus to Every Neighbor”. We love because he first loved us. (1 John 4:19)
