Receptionist: Pear Orchard Presbyterian Church
Job Description:
Monday-Thursday: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (32 hours/week)
Characteristics of Work
This position is typically the first contact for visitors to the church office and serve as a central point of communication and coordination for a variety of POPC ministries.
Essential Functions
1. Greet and interact with guests and church staff in a personable and helpful manner, evaluating the needs of visitors and directing them to the appropriate staff members.
2. Receive, evaluate, and route incoming calls.
3. Screen, sort and distribute mail and other documents.
4. Maintain adequate quantities of office supplies in support of church operations.
5. Operate office equipment such as photocopier, scanner, fax machine, calculator, letter folders, telephone systems, postage meter, and other office specific equipment. Coordinate the servicing of this equipment to insure efficient office operations.
6. Know and apply the POPC policy manual procedures, as well as other office management systems and procedures, when conducting church office business.
7. Help facilitate communication between church officers and staff.
8. Maintain sanctuary flower schedule, according to established guidelines.
9. Perform all other duties as assigned by the Business Administrator, Pastoral Staff, and Executive Staff.

Position Qualifications:
Education, Training, and Experience Requirements
Graduation from a standard four-year high school is required. Work in a church administrative organization is preferred. Related education and experience may be considered for substitution. This person must have excellent oral and written communication skills and be able to work well with a team. A high level of competence (or teachability) in the use of technological tools like MS Office, Google products, Adobe Acrobat, Slack, church management databases, other internet-based programs, and office equipment is vital. As this position requires daily contact with confidential information, this position requires a high level of integrity and maturity.
