Pastoral Intern

Job Description:

Pastoral Interns work an average of 20 hours per week while continuing academic coursework. Half of your time will be spent doing general pastoral duties like teaching, discipleship, counseling, visitation, etc…  The other half of your time will be spent in a specific ministry area. Each intern is placed into a specific ministry area for the duration of the program. This will provide an opportunity for depth in your ministry experience. We are especially looking for interns to serve in the areas of missions, discipleship, and intern to the senior minister. Contact us to see which ministry areas are available.

FPC will provide a living stipend as well as the Church Partnership Program Scholarship (CPP) for each intern. The internship is designed to last 3 years.

Position Qualifications:

We want to provide a professional development opportunity for men who are pursuing a call to vocational ministry. This program is best suited for those who are entering seminary or who are finishing their first year of credit hours.

We are a historic church in the capital city of South Carolina with outreach in many spheres of the community. This internship is designed to have a cohort of nine interns. It is a unique opportunity to live and minister in the urban, southern setting of Columbia, SC while learning from and being shepherded by our world-class staff, headed by Derek Thomas, our Senior Minister and Chancellor’s Professor of Systematic and Practical Theology at Reformed Theological Seminary.
