Assistant Pastor of Teams and Outreach

Christ the King Church

Summary: To serve the congregation of Christ the King Church by giving oversight to all CTK ministry & operational teams and by developing/leading ministries of outreach.

Hours: Full time + Benefits (Health Insurance Stipend and Retirement)

Supervisor: Reports to the Lead Pastor and Session

Teams Management & Development

  • Pastoral oversight of current operational and ministry teams. This includes pastoring of the directors of these teams, helping with volunteer recruitment to these teams, general oversight of scheduling, and assisting with leadership development. Current teams are:
    • Sunday Morning Operation Teams (Hospitality, Setup & Security, Music/Worship, Administration/Communication, Creative Team, Livestream/Media Team, etc.)
    • Discipleship Teams (Men, Women, Youth, Children)
  • Development of new operational and ministry teams. CTK teams currently in development are:
    • Finance/HR Team
    • Facility Team
    • Security Team
    • Youth Ministry Team
    • Mercy & Missions Team (see below)
  • Assist with pastoral care of all staff and team leaders
  • Help conduct CTK Staff Team reviews

Outreach

  • Development of a ministry of engagement with the local community
    • Teaching & training the CTK congregation on how to engage their neighbors in ministry/care
    • Develop partnerships between local ministries and our congregation
    • Pursue opportunities for the CTK congregation to “unburden” those in our local community
    • Network with community leaders to develop serving relationships
    • Collaborate with Session on future facility planning for community use
    • Develop and implement an evangelism strategy for CTK members to be better equipped to share their faith
  • Development of a Mercy & Missions Team
    • The Mercy & Missions Team would be tasked with the following:
      • Formulate strategies to develop a culture of benevolence at CTK
      • Connect the CTK congregation with local ministries and service opportunities
      • Oversight of all missions and benevolence giving
      • Creation of a strategy for missionary/ministry support
      • Construction of a plan for supporting and planting new churches out of CTK
      • Initiating and maintaining relationships with domestic and foreign missionaries
    • Discipleship of the leaders of this team and determining those that might be considered as future diaconal candidates
  • Development of CTK Diaconate
    • Recognizing, equipping, and training men/women that could lead in benevolence ministry at CTK
    • Collaborating with the Session on the makeup and primary directives of a diaconate
    • Leading and discipling the future deacons of CTK

Miscellaneous Duties

  • Regular collaboration/partnership with lead pastor about vision and development of outreach at CTK.
  • Preaching 6-10 times per year
  • Regular teaching/training on outreach and evangelism
  • Leading Sunday morning liturgy as needed
  • Assisting Lead Pastor with Discovery Classes
  • Attend Session meetings
  • Pastoral Care: Organize and lead Care Teams, assist in funerals/weddings as needed, help/lead in church discipline cases as needed
  • Participation in a Community Group
  • Participation in a Discipleship Group

  • Keeps short accounts among staff and congregants
  • Takes a weekly Sabbath for rest and renewal

Position Qualifications:

Ideal Candidate Profile:

 

  • 10+ years of experience in pastoral ministry with legacy of making disciples (ordination preferred)
  • Committed to the spiritual disciplines and regular sabbath rest
  • Warm and pastoral spirit; values hospitality and welcome
  • Relationally skilled to work together with a growing staff team
  • Eager to regularly set goals and accomplish tasks
  • Ability to work in a flexible, changing church plant environment
  • Record of winsomely building, training, and pastoring teams
  • Skilled teacher and trainer, especially in the areas of outreach and mobilization
  • Preferred working experience in the areas of outreach, mercy ministry, and missions
  • Enjoys ministering to those outside the faith and equipping those within the faith to minister to outsiders (unchurched/dechurched/marginalized)
  • Experience in building/leading a diaconal team preferred
  • Spiritual gifting in evangelism and prayer preferred
  • Willingness to preach 6-10 times per year
  • Teachable and gifted to work under the direction of a lead pastor and elder team (this is not a residency or preparation for an eventual lead position)
  • Desire to collaborate with the lead pastor in outreach vision casting and leadership development
