Office Assistant: The Church of the Apostles
Job Description:
The Office Assistant provides vital administrative support to the Rector’s office, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations. You will be responsible for welcoming guests, managing appointments, coordinating meetings, and maintaining organized filing systems for key documents such as minutes and correspondence. You’ll also assist with composing letters, thank you notes, and other correspondence, as well as transcribing sermons and maintaining sermon and illustration archives. Working closely with the Rector’s Personal Assistant, this role helps keep the office efficient and well-prepared for its many functions in support of the Rector.
Responsibilities of the Office Assistant include but are not limited to:
- Greet Rector’s office guests, and assist with scheduling appointments and meeting set up.
- Organize and maintain the filing system for the Rector’s office including minutes and other corporate documents.
- Compose and prepare Rector’s correspondence such as letters relating to member’s births, deaths, thank you notes, and other general correspondence.
- Assist with transcribing sermons and other speaking engagements.
- Update and maintain the Rector’s sermon and illustration files.
- Assist with various administrative duties as required.
- Coordinate office duties with Rector’s Personal Assistant.
- Normal work week is 9AM-4PM on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, in the office.
Position Qualifications:
The Office Assistant position is highly administrative yet also requires the practice of hospitality. To thrive and be successful, you must be trustworthy, have above average typing speed, and possess strong attention to detail and organizational skills. To qualify as a candidate you should possess the following characteristics and experience:
- Effective verbal and written communications skills.
- Strong attention to details and excellent organizational skills.
- Requires strong grasp of the English language and grammar.
- Strong computer skills.
- Must have the ability to handle and maintain confidential information.

- We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in Christ.
