Next Generations Pastor: Converge Church

Job Description:

The Next Generation Pastor is responsible for creating and managing a ministry for children (birth-12th grade) and young adults (up to age 25) at Converge Church. The primary goals are to introduce children, youth and young adults to Christ, disciple them, and train them to serve Christ. Equally important is empowering parents and guardians to raise their children to spiritual maturity. Work Hours: 40 hours/week.  Salary $60,500/year

Qualifications:

  • Education: College Degree: Preferred degree in Christian ministry, biblical studies, or a related field.
  • Experience: At least five years in leading children and youth in a church setting.
  • Lifestyle: Must live according to biblical leadership qualifications as detailed in 1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9, and 2 Timothy 4:1-2.
  • A strong understanding and commitment to essentially reformed theology and expositional teaching/preaching.
  • Heart for Ministry: Should honor God and support children and students in worship and knowledge of Him.
  • Faith: Must be a disciple of Jesus Christ with a passion for serving Him.

Competencies:

  • Strong understanding of Scripture and its application in ministry.
  • Commitment to teamwork, relationships, and enjoyment in ministry.
  • Ability to train and mentor others.
  • Strong communication and administrative skills and ability to maintain confidentiality.

Roles/Responsibilities:

  1. Align Ministries:
  • Create a unified plan for children, youth and young adults that matches the church’s mission and vision.
  • Lead and develop volunteer teams across various age groups.
  • Ensure the smooth transition between programs for all ages.
  • Manage budgets for these ministries.
  1. Develop Leaders:
  • Recruit and mentor adult leaders for ministry effectiveness.
  • Encourage volunteer leaders in their development.
  • Model effective leadership and continuous learning.
  • Provide opportunities for youth and young adults to grow into leaders.
  1. Influence Discipleship:
  • Plan and lead teaching ministries for different age groups.
  • Provide local and global service opportunities for youth.
  • Offer support and pastoral care for children, youth and young adults facing personal challenges.
  • Organize engaging events for children, youth and young adults outside regular meetings.
  1. Partner with Parents:
  • Support parents in guiding their children toward faith.
  • Build relationships across generations and provide relevant resources.
  1. Create Safe Environment:
  • Ensure a safe and caring space for spiritual growth.
  • Maintain adherence to the Child Protection Policy.
  1. Contribute to Leadership:
  • Attend staff meetings and actively participate in church leadership.

Working Relationships:

The Next Generation Pastor reports to the Senior Pastors and is directly supervised by the Executive Minister, who also conducts annual evaluations. This role oversees volunteers in children, youth, and young adult ministries.
