Discipleship and Care Assistant Pastor: Kirkmont Church (EPC)

Job Description:

Ministry Responsibilities and Opportunities:
Discipleship:
• Provide an intentional discipleship process with the goal of producing disciples who produce disciples.
• Strive toward creating cohesive discipleship across all generations of our church with the help of a full-time Kid’s Ministries Director and a full-time Student Ministries Director.
• Oversee and support all aspects of our growing Small Group Ministry that includes over 30 small groups and over 300 participants in those small groups.
• Oversee and support all aspects of our Sunday School program.
• Coordinate with our Men’s and Women’s Ministry teams.
• Participate in worship regularly; preach the Word occasionally.
Care:
• Oversee all aspects of our Care Ministry with the help of a part-time Care Ministry Assistant.
• Serve Communion to our shut-ins on a quarterly basis.
• Be a pastoral presence in end-of-life situations.
• Assist in funerals, as requested.
• Provide pastoral counsel, as requested.
Professional Qualifications: We would strongly prefer this candidate be either already ordained or able to be ordained in our denomination, the Evangelical Presbyterian Church (EPC). To be considered for ordination in the EPC, one would need to have finished or be finishing a Master’s of Divinity and be a good theological fit for our denomination. Full-time ministry experience and ministry experience in a medium-sized church or larger are preferred but not required.

• Can teach the Bible in a way that is accurate and engaging.
• Possesses the organizational skills to work with volunteers effectively and to plan and present ministry events successfully.
• Has a high relational IQ and can get along with a variety of staff, elders, and church members.
• Is passionate about serving the Great Commission.
Compensation:
• Salary Range: 65k – 80k
• EPC Gold HSA Medical Insurance for you and your family
• EPC Retirement: $6,500 – $8,000
• Business Expenses: 3k
• Study Leave Expenses: $750
• 4 Weeks of Vacation
• 2 Weeks of Study Leave
Accountability: The Assistant Pastor of Discipleship and Care will be under the immediate supervision of the Lead Pastor and ultimately accountable to the Session.

Assistant Pastor of Discipleship and Care

Purpose: To oversee Kirkmont’s efforts to provide a cohesive discipleship process and to ensure pastoral care to our church family.
About Kirkmont: Kirkmont is a growing, multi-generational church with about 500 in attendance on Sundays. We have a great group of elders and staff, our congregation is at peace and unified, we’ve just completed a 4.5 million dollar Kids’ Ministry wing, and we are focused on God’s Word and the Great Commission.
About Beavercreek, OH: Beavercreek is a suburb of Dayton and a great community to live in and raise a family. Beavercreek offers great public schools, competitive Christian schools, and a variety of homeschool networks as well. The greater Dayton area offers a ton of restaurants, shopping, entertainment, etc., in a city that is very easy to navigate. We are also just one hour from Columbus and Cincinnati.
