Director of Elementary Ministry

Job Description:

FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES 

Leadership and Planning

  1. Leadership and Planning 
  2. Responsible for the overall vision of Elementary ministry as it fits into the overall vision of the church. 
  3. Ultimately responsible for all aspects of and programs in the Elementary Ministry. 
  4. Prepare and oversee the Elementary Ministry budget. 
  5. Constantly seek new ways to do ministry to parents and children. 
  6. Oversee outreach and service projects for Elementary-age students and their families. 
  7. Responsible for the Elementary Ministry curriculum taught on Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights. 
  8. Plan and lead the 4th and 5th grade weekend. 
  9. Help plan and lead the Family Christmas Eve Service. 
  10. Lead and run VBS for elementary-age students.  
  11. Recruit and lead the Elementary Ministry Leadership Team. 

Staff Supervision and Leadership

  1. Staff Supervision and Leadership  
  2. Oversee and supervise the Elementary staff in their ministries. 
  3. Oversee staff development and alignment as well as staff care. 
  4. Lead weekly Elementary team staff meetings. 
  5. Supervise time and payroll-related approvals for Department staff. 
  6. Conduct regular and honest evaluations of the Elementary staff. 
  7. Responsible for hiring staff as needed. 

Weekly Preparation and Assistance

  1. Oversee all technology and preparation of technology for Sunday mornings, Wednesday evenings, and special events. 
  2. Assist with leading teaching, small group teaching, and leading worship in any age group of the Ministry as needed.  
  3. Cooperate with Other Ministry Departments 
  4. Coordinate with other ministries and ministry leaders to best facilitate ministry as a body. 
  5. Lead and run the Children’s Missions Conference alongside the Missions Department. 
  6. Be a part of monthly Children’s Ministry staff meetings. 

Intentional Interaction and Relationships with Families

  1. Proactively build relationships with children and families. 
  2. Proactively contact students and parents who are not involved. 
  3. Recognize the names of every student in the elementary ministry. 
  4. Pray regularly for all the families and children in the ministry. 

Other Responsibilities

  1. Occasionally perform other duties within the scope of this ministerially exempt description. 
  2. Remain in compliance with the Staff Covenant and Employee Handbook. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 

Ability to sit at a desk and use a computer for extended periods of time. 

Ability to be on campus on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings.
