Job Description:
Decatur Heritage Christian Academy (DHCA) is hiring a full-time Bible teacher for our upper high school grades. The salary will be based upon the candidate’s background which includes experience and training. Our intention is to hire a proven teacher who builds caring relationships with students and is experienced in teaching apologetics as well as the key doctrines of the faith as presented in the Old and New Testaments. Though an independent, Christian school with no church or denominational affiliation, we are strongly influenced by local churches and adminstration with reformed alignment making a candidate of similar alignment preferred.

The Bible program at DHCA serves a vital role to equip students with a strong understanding of God’s Word and it’s importance for all matters of life and faith. Bible teachers at DHCA guide students to understand, embrace, and apply God’s truth to everyday life to the honor and glory of His name.
Position Qualifications:
Qualifications
- Minimum of a BS/BA in Education, Biblical Studies, or related field.
- Classroom teaching experience and/or a teaching license is preferred but not required.
- Professing believer in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and committed to growing in relationship with Him.
- In agreement with the mission and vision of the school found on the school’s website (dhca.org).
- In agreement with the school’s statement of faith found on the What We Believe page of our website.
- Regularly attends and is actively involved in a Protestant church that affirms historic Christian orthodoxy (doctrine, faith, teaching, practice), consistent with the school’s statement of faith, through that church’s public creed, confession, core beliefs, or statement of faith.
Responsibilities
- Exhibits a love of teaching and a passion to see each student succeed.
- Develops trusting, productive relationships with students to create a safe, positive, and productive learning environment.
- Integrates a Biblical Worldview in daily instruction that examines God’s creation, man’s brokenness, the redemption of Christ, and God’s future restoration.
- Demonstrates expertise in the content area as well as knowledge of the learning targets and appropriate selection of learning materials.
- Uses a variety of instructional strategies and assessment practices to deepen the learning for each student.
- Self-reflects and welcomes other’s perspectives on their teaching, sets goals for improvement, and grows in the craft of teaching.
- Possesses knowledge about the development of learners and tailors instruction in a manner to meet the learning needs of the student.
- Collaborates and cooperates positively and eagerly with colleagues united under the mission and purpose of the school.
- Engages professionally, positively, and cooperatively with the administration.
- Exhibits a servant-hearted attitude towards others including partnering closely with parents through effective, consistent communication.
