Why James?

As the years go by, living the Christian life can become more challenging. Trials and temptations and losses and crosses can so easily rob us of our joy and take our eyes off Jesus Christ. We need seasoned counselors both to remind us of what the Christian life should look like and to point us to Christ in difficult times. The book of James does this very thing. Like an effective preacher, James exhorts us to genuine Christian living and does so in ways that are especially aimed at us. Like an experienced pastor, James goes from preaching to meddling. He gets into the business of how we live our lives and addresses our prayerlessness, our lack of love for one another, and more. But James does it all within the context of the grace of Christ, which really is greater than all our sins. And that makes all the difference.
