In the Kingdom of the Beloved Son: Justification and the Risen Christ

Dr. David Yeago
2022 Kistemaker Academic Lecture Series
Reformed Theological Seminary, Orlando

Every year, RTS Orlando invites a leading scholar from outside our own faculty to present a series of academic lectures to the student body. Our lecturer for 2022 is leading Lutheran theologian Dr. David Yeago, Professor of Systematic Theology and Ethics at the North American Lutheran Seminary and the Trinity School for Ministry.

Dr. Yeago will speak on the doctrine of justification, drawing on his decades of scholarship in the field. His series is titled, “In the Kingdom of the Beloved Son: Justification and the Risen Christ.” All are welcome to join for these special lectures and for a Q&A lunch on Wednesday, March 9. Please register for lunch here.

He will be engaging a range of issues regarding the interpretation of the apostle Paul, the theological witness of Martin Luther, and the task of thinking about justification by faith today. Lecture titles will be, first, “The Righteousness of God in Jesus Christ,” second, “Union with Christ and Forensic Justification,” third, “Freedom from the Law – For Christ,” and fourth, “Justification and Newness of Life.” In traversing those various topics, Dr. Yeago will help us think theologically and exegetically about how Christ and salvation are necessarily and essentially interrelated. A community lunch will be held between the third and fourth lectures, allowing for questions from the community.
