Position Qualifications:

Spiritual and Personal:

  • Deep, growing relationship with Jesus Christ

  • Strong alignment with the church’s doctrine, vision, and values

  • High personal integrity, humility, and teachability

  • Passion for discipling young people and equipping families

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree (often in Bible, Theology, Ministry, or Christian Education)

  • Many churches prefer or require a Seminary degree (M.Div., MA in Ministry, etc.), especially for larger roles

  • Continued theological training or certifications are a plus

Experience:

  • 3–5+ years leading in children’s, youth, or family ministry

  • Proven ability to build and lead teams (volunteers and staff)

  • Experience creating and growing ministries across multiple age groups

  • Comfortable communicating to both young people and adults (teaching, preaching, leading)

  • Familiarity with NextGen ministry strategies (family ministry models, intergenerational worship, etc.)
