Job Description:

The purpose of this full-time position is to assist in fulfilling the mission of CCC as it relates to our student ministry (6th – 12th grade). This will be accomplished by ministering to students through teaching, relational discipleship, leadership multiplication, administrative oversight and ministry development.

The successful candidate will also assist with our assimilation process for newcomers, group leadership, and general pastoral support. This position falls under the direction of the senior pastoral staff and is in line with the strategy, values, and distinctives of CCC.

Education and Experience

  1. This position requires either a four year B.A. in Biblical or general studies, or some equivalent in biblical or ministry education and training. Current seminarians are encouraged to apply.
  2. This person should bring at least 2 years of ministry experience working with youth, student or campus ministry and be able to describe the fruit of this ministry with references.

Time Commitment

This is a full-time exempt salaried position with an expectation of approximately 40-50 hours per week.

 

A. Responsibilities

 

1. General

  • Responsible participation in the life of the church.
  • Work under the direction of the Lead Pastor.

 

2. Student Ministry Director (Grades 6-12)

  • Lead Wednesday evening student gatherings and events.
  • Provide yearly student leader training and oversee current student leadership/interns.
  • Delegate 9am Sunday morning curriculum to student leaders.
  • Recruit new leaders to student ministry.
  • Coordinator seasonal student events outside of the Wednesday regular meeting.
  • Encourage the spiritual growth of our students through personal relationships and involvement in the Body of Christ. This may include outreach and discipleship at schools and activities, scheduling one on one discipleship appointments at coffee shops, leading small group discussions, etc.
  • Serve as a resource for parents to help them more effectively fulfill their roles as primary spiritual nurturers.
  • Oversee the teaching component of Student Ministry by leading Wednesday night student group teaching, and organizing or developing curriculum that meets student needs and the goals of the church in making disciples.

 

3. Community & Connections

  • Lead initial engagement with first-time guests and those wanting more information on the church.
  • Teach Discovery Class (our membership class), along with other teachers.
  • Oversee the Meal Ministry by scheduling monthly point person for meals coordination and provide oversight for the ministry.
  • Tend to any requests/suggestions/concerns from church attendees.
  • Float on Sunday mornings as a visible staff member for any needs that arise.
  • Give the service Welcome on a rotational basis. 

 

B. Administration

  1. Perform administrative details that support the student ministry – managing the student program budgets, providing information for publication regarding student programs, responding to e-mails and phone calls in a timely manner, communicating monthly activity reports which include short and long term goals, etc.
  2. Maintenance of attendance records, materials, supplies, and curriculum as needed.

 

C. Ministry Development

  1. Provide and/or promote opportunities for our students to be involved in ministries of service and mission in our church, community and world. Nurture our students in sharing their faith, gifts, and time with others.
  2. Advise, help plan, promote, attend, and assist in student involvement in fund raising for any special events such as Mission Trips, Camps, seasonal retreats, conferences, or other programs, as approved by the leadership.
  3. Work with the Associate Pastor to create and maintain assimilation initiatives to foster connection and community.

 

D. General Pastoral

  1. Assist the pastors and elders in an “as needed / available” basis.
  2. Attend regular meetings of pastoral staff.

 

E. Continuing Education

  1. Willingness to read assigned books or articles, to meet with the pastoral staff for mentoring and discipleship, and to attend occasional training seminars, suggested and / or approved by the lead pastor.
  2. Willingness to continue education as needed upon evaluation.

 

F. Administrative Relationships

  1. Serve under the direction and authority of the Lead Pastor.
  2. The person who holds this position will be required to work with the administrative support staff.

 

G. Remuneration

Commensurate with education and experience.
