Job Description:

Youth Pastor: Youth Pastor will be responsible for supervising and leading the spiritual development, education, and growth of Watermark youth grades 7-12. We expect this candidate to come alongside these youth for the purpose of building and nurturing relationships in a way that represents both the tenderness as well as the life-changing power of the gospel. Therefore, we expect this candidate to be present in the lives of the youth—attending their school activities, sporting events, and any other extracurricular activities in which they participate. Lead with grace and love–and with the intention to make disciples of Jesus. 

  1. In coordination with the senior pastor, order and teach approved curriculum for youth ministry grades 7-12. Keep parents informed of progress in discipleship.
  2. In cooperation with the senior pastor and admin/scheduling director, plan and implement discipleship classes, social activities, and community mission projects for Watermark youth grades 7-12. Minimum one social event per month should be planned for youth.
  3. Plan, promote, and attend the annual Watermark Youth Camp.
  4. Public Relations: Keep the church and local community informed of the what, when, and where re Watermark youth discipleship programs and social events.
  5. Work with senior pastor and finance committee in developing proposed budget for the youth ministry.
  6. Recruit, equip, and encourage adult volunteers at Watermark to love and mentor students.
  7. Serves as an ex-officio member on boards and committees, working with committees to manage youth ministry.
  8. Evaluation: Measure and report the quality, progress, and attainment of discipleship goals set. Be prepared to give youth ministry report and field questions at annual Watermark church conference. Report to the senior pastor as well as pastor parish relations committee upon request.
  9. Serves on Executive Committee.

Associate Role: This role will assist in brainstorming and developing discipleship initiatives church-wide. Serve to welcome new members and integrate them into church life. This will include encouraging families, children, youth, and young adults to participate in  discipleship classes, social activities, etc. Together with lead pastor serve the needs within the church family as well as attend and support local community activities/events/projects.

  1. Assist with planning, implementing, and reporting Watermark local mission projects including ways to incorporate Watermark youth into these projects.
  2. Encourage families, children, youth, and young adults to participate in discipleship programs, social activities, etc.
  3. Together with lead pastor serve the needs within the church family (hospital visits, shut-in visits, etc.) as well as attend and support local community activities/events/projects.

Position Qualifications:

  • A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a call to serve His people.
  • Humbled yet driven by the power of the gospel to change lives.
  • 2-3 year experience in church leadership role(s). (preferred)
  • Must be seminary graduate or candidate for graduation.
  • In agreement with Watermark Statement of Faith.
  • In full agreement with Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy as well as the Ligonier Statement on Christology.
