Evangelism Intern: Boardwalk Chapel (Presbytery of New Jersey & Puerto Rico)

Job Description:

Evangelism Internship – a full-time paid summer internship (June – August) designed to strengthen future ministers in the area of evangelism. The internship includes training and mentorship for the intern. Responsibilities and mentored experiences of an evangelism intern include:

  • Preaching short Gospel sermonettes (1-4 per week) in nightly programs

  • Personal Evangelism on the Boardwalk (daily)

  • Preaching in the local church on the Lord’s Day (2-6 Sundays depending on interest)

  • Leading Lord’s Day Evening Worship (weekly)

  • Encouraging/mentoring high school and college age students and other laypeople in evangelism

  • Providing spiritual leadership to the summer staff (largely college-age)

  • Additional responsibilities and experiences are offered according to the interest and gifting of the interns (such as teaching opportunities, administrative tasks, helping with a local children’s outreach, etc.)

Position Qualifications:

The position is for seminarians (MDiv students preferred) who have graduated college.  Extensive evangelism experience is not required, only an interest in engaging in the work of evangelism and desire to grow in it.

The Boardwalk Chapel is an evangelistic ministry of the Presbytery of New Jersey & Puerto Rico in Wildwood, NJ.  It is a summer ministry located on the Jersey shore, with a two-fold purpose: 1) to proclaim Christ to the lost through Gospel preaching and personal evangelism and 2) to help encourage, train and equip the church in evangelism.
