Family and Student Ministries Pastor
Job Description:
The purpose of the position of Family and Student Ministries Pastor is to provide
pastoral vision and oversight for children and students (ages 0-18) and their families at Four Oaks Killearn. The FSMP should be able to develop a unified biblical vision, philosophy of ministry, and methodology for shepherding and discipling children and students into adulthood.
The Family and Student Ministries Pastor position has three, primary areas of focus:
- Hands-on Ministry, Leadership, and Oversight of the Middle School and Senior High ministries, including student ministry staff and volunteers.
- Oversight of the Children’s Ministry Director and staff to ensure alignment and consistency with the overall vision and mission of Family and Student Ministries.
- Partnership with the Adult Ministries Pastor to help students transition into the college and young adult phases of life at Four Oaks Killearn.
Specific Responsibilities
- Oversee the theological teaching, content, and development for the entire ministry, including Sunday morning and Wednesday night programming
- Teach and provide leadership for gathering times for students on Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights
- Mobilize and oversee volunteers to middle school and senior high ministries
- Organize and lead retreats, trips, and events for middle school and senior high students
- Promote a vision for intergenerational involvement in the church of children and students, including service opportunities
- Work alongside the Adult Ministries Pastor to help graduating high school students transition into the broader body life of the church, either as college students or young adults
- Facilitate and develop a comprehensive discipleship strategy for students and families, including parenting educational opportunities, a child dedication process, and a baptism process for children and students
- Oversee and administrate the Family Ministries budget
- Supervise the Student Ministries Coordinator in the execution of her administrative duties and ministry to girls
- Oversee and supervise the Children’s Ministry Director in her leadership and ministry to children
- Supervise Student Ministries Interns
- Engage regularly with the Killearn Pastoral Team and Elders in the attendance of various duties, responsibilities, and oversight of the Killearn Congregation
- Depending upon the specific giftings, experience, and interests of the person called into this pastoral role, there could be broader ministry opportunities available to the church at large
Position Qualifications:
Formal theological training and education is preferred. If the FSMP does not have a theological degree, he will be committed to completing his degree while employed by the church. The FSMP will be licensed and ordained by Four Oaks Community Church. Such ordination will occur simultaneously during the hiring process and will include personal, theological, and biblical examination by the Full Council of Elders.
