Job Title:
Pastor
Job Description:
Experienced, social and dedicated spiritual leader with a strong biblical foundation, prepared to lead a growing congregation in fellowship, discipleship, and outreach to fulfill the mission of the church. Pastor should guide the leadership with development, prayerful communication, and be an active participant in leading the church during Sunday worship (in-house and online) with planned expository messages in a mixed traditional/contemporary environment. He should be an active participant in small group Bible studies, either leading or assisting the study leaders to provide scripturally sound lessons to equip members of the church for work of the ministry and continuation of the spiritual health of the church.
A successful part-time Pastor will be present and participate in growing and leading his sheep in fulfillment of the mission, and prepared to both preach publicly, and witness privately. While a Pastor must be the spiritual leader of the congregation, and must be involved in education, growth, planning and discipleship, it is understood that it is unrealistic for a part-time Pastor to carry the weight of all biblical and administrative duties associated with operating the local church. As such, PFC has determined certain pastoral activities that are required in performing its mission, as stated below:
Proclaiming Christ
Preach – Provide biblically centered preaching to members, attendees and online viewers weekly during worship services on a weekly basis.
Worship Planning – Partner with leadership and worship planning teams to plan and schedule the worship service in a timely manner and in a way that Glorifies God and edifies the attendees.
Following Christ
Bible Study – Assist church leadership in planning and performing Adult Bible Study, as well as determination of young adult and children’s materials. Ensure materials are doctrinally sound.
Prayer Ministry – Prayer is central to the needs and expansion of the church. Assist leadership in creating and maintaining an appropriate prayer ministry.
Discipleship Planning – Assist church leadership in creation and implementation of Discipleship programs to support growth in maturity and use of spiritual gifts.
Connecting with Others in Christ
Be Present – Be present during events (worship, educational and social) and participate in mission activities.
Ordinances/Sacraments – Lead ordinances in line with scriptural requirements.
