New Doctor of Ministry Emphases in Theology and Preaching at RTS

(Orlando, Fla.) – April 28, 2016 – Reformed Theological Seminary now offers two new emphases in the Doctor of Ministry program: Reformed Theology and Ministry, and Reformed Expository Preaching.

The RTS Doctor of Ministry degree is a 30-credit postgraduate degree that provides further pastoral preparation for ministers in order to sharpen their ministry skills and equip them for endurance in ministry. Students in the Reformed Theology and Ministry emphasis will focus on theological richness that the Reformed tradition provides for the practice of ministry. Those who elect the Reformed Expository Preaching emphasis will receive advanced exegetical and practical instruction to enhance their ability to preach the whole counsel of God. 

Dr. Kevin Collins, assistant director of the Doctor of Ministry program, commented, “RTS has always existed to serve the church by equipping its leaders, and with these new emphases we enhance that commitment. It is our hope that seasoned pastors will return to their churches refreshed and with a renewed zeal and increased skills to preach God’s word faithfully and to shepherd well His people.”

The Doctor of Ministry program is offered at Reformed Theological Seminary’s Orlando, Florida and Charlotte, North Carolina campuses. Classes for these new emphases begin this summer with the following classes:

 Covenant Theology and Ministry, Dr. Ligon Duncan  July 11-15
 Preaching the Book of Hebrews, Dr. Michael Allen  July 18-22

Charlotte, N. C.

 Preaching from the Gospels, Dr. Robert Cara   July 18-22
 Reformed Worship, Dr. Terry Johnson    July 25-29
