About Dr. Richardson

Dr. Guy L. Richardson is President Emeritus (1999-2020) of the Jackson campus of Reformed Theological Seminary and Adjunct Professor of Counseling on the Jackson campus.

Dr. Richardson received his undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Auburn University in 1972. He later earned three graduate degrees: a Masters of Christian Education from Reformed Theological Seminary (1977), a Masters of Education in Counseling from Georgia State University (1980), and his doctorate in Counselor Education from Auburn University (1983). In 1987 he was ordained as a minister in the Presbyterian Church in America.

Dr. Richardson is also a licensed professional counselor (LPC). For over twelve years he served as the director for two church-based professional Christian counseling ministries: the first in Augusta, Georgia; and the second, in Montgomery, Alabama. In 1996 he and his family moved to Newark, Delaware where, for three years he was the interim pastor for Evangelical Presbyterian Church. After finishing that work, he moved to Mississippi in 1999 to assume leadership for the Jackson campus of Reformed Theological Seminary. He has been married for 36 years to the former Denise White of Birmingham, Alabama. They have two adult daughters, Katie, married to Nathan Moore, and Joy. His hobbies have included collecting old Bibles and maps, and when he has a rare day away from his other work, he enjoys building furniture in his woodshop.
